Overview

This module covers basic information and techniques in production of images for the web. Users may use the website as a resource for information, or as a tutorial, by working sequentially through the material. At the end of the tutorial module, participants will be able to:

Identify issues for visual content in educational websites

Identify and define basic image production issues:

Resolution issues
Compression and file formats
Web colour issues

Understand how to acquire images by:

Using a flatbed scanner
Using a film scanner
Using a digital camera
Downloading images from websites
Having knowledge of copyright issues

Manipulate images by:

Resizing and cropping
Adjusting brightness & contrast
Adjusting colour balance and sharpness
Selective enhancing and retouching
Adding text

Identify and define basic image creation issues:

Using colour
Basic design principles

Create simple graphics in Photoshop
