Use of the Copyright notice supplied with Vista templates (copyright.gif) relates to any course material (eg graphics, photographs etc) for which UNSW does not own the copyright, unless you have already obtained permission for publication of the material.
The educational license that UNSW subscribes to allows the use of such material in course content provided that:
- Access to the material is restricted to students enrolled at UNSW.
- The material is preceded by a notice indicating the terms of the copyright license.
- The material is fully acknowledged - ie author, source, publisher.
The Copyright notice has been included on Course resource pages in the templates. Provided that students must go through this page to access resources, the notice need not be repeated. However, any other link that allows access to copyright material must present the notice in such a way that the student sees it before accessing the material.
Electronic access to published material (book chapters, journal articles etc) is controlled through the Library, and teachers should apply through the myCourse service to include links to such material in online courses. Alternatively, if the material is available through one of the online databases, you can create a link to it in your course. It is not permitted under UNSW's copyright license to scan and upload such material into your course.
