Ensure consistent and appropriate use of graphics, icons and other visual cues

Many students with learning disabilities rely on pictorial cues for navigating a package or understanding learning objects. To ensure that graphics, icons and other visual cues are accessible:

• Make sure that icons and graphics chosen are clear and accurately describe the information to which they link.
• Don't use graphics for the sake of it to make a page appear more interesting. If it is serving no useful purpose, then omit it.
• As a general rule, the default photographic icons provided by WebCT Version 3.1 should be used whenever possible. These default graphics clearly describe the content or activity to which they link and include text alternatives (see the following point).
